ZEISS 100 by Simon Chim In the year of the celebration of a hundred years of ZEISS precision lenses, Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens presents a very limited and exclusive collection of sunglasses by Hong Kong designer Simon Chim.

For Carl Zeiss, the year 2012 is marked by an important anniversary. Exactly 100 years ago the company revolutionized the optics market with its innovative Punktal® eyeglass lenses. Milestones in this 100-year history include products like: anti-reflective coatings in 1935, brown-tint phototropic mineral eyeglass lenses in 1970, horizontal symmetric progressive lenses in 1983, or individually personalized progressive lenses in the year 2000.

Carl Zeiss is now celebrating “100 years of precision lenses – 100 years of Better Vision”. The Sunlens division, dedicated to the development and production of non-prescription sun lenses, also participates in the celebration of this exceptional event with a limited sunglass collection, especially made by Hong Kong designer Simon Chim.
Simon Chim, creator of the RECYCLE PAPER FRAMES, gives his interpretation of the anniversary. RECYCLE PAPER FRAMES technique consists in wrapping the frame by hand with original printed paper, then hand polished after each layer of protective coating is applied. The Hong Kong designer applies the same method with the original photos that each illustrates a piece of the ZEISS Precision Lenses world such as eyeglass lenses but also camera lenses used to photograph the first man on the moon or capture Hollywood blockbusters and microscopes. Each frame comes with a stylish tailor-made display.
The CR-39 ZEISS sunlenses guarantee the best optical quality for a sharp and protected vision, proper of Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens technology.
Simon Chim’s work can be seen during MIDO at the Carl Zeiss Vision booth, Hall 22, D11 F20.
